Parish Scholarships for Catholic Education

2014-2015 applications are due May 1st, 2014

St. Gabriel Parish places a high importance on the value of Catholic education.

Through the generous efforts of St. Gabriel parishioners, we are pleased to offer scholarships in support of Catholic elementary and secondary education so that our young people may experience full immersion in a Christ-centered educational atmosphere. Currently, the parish offers five funded scholarships. Your generous donation will help ensure our students' bright futures.

Reverend Robert E. Pahler Scholarship

The Reverend Robert E. Pahler Scholarship was established in 1990 in honor of Fr. Pahler, former pastor of St. Gabriel Parish. The fund assists eighth-grade students in the parish, whether attending the Catholic elementary school or PSR program, benefit from a Catholic high school education.

Donald W. Wiertel Scholarship

In 2000, the family of Donald W. Wiertel established this scholarship in memory of this long-time St. Gabriel parishioner and well-loved football coach to help ensure that an eighth-grade student football player benefit from a Catholic high school education.

Faculty Memorial Scholarship

The Faculty Memorial Scholarship was  created in 2007 in memory of colleagues Anne Callahan, Kristine Gehrs and Cindy Patterson to help ensure that an eighth-grade student would benefit from a Catholic high school education.

Matthew J. Pohovey Scholarship

The parents of Matthew J. Pohovey created this scholarship in 2001 in their son's memory to assist families of children in St. Gabriel School with genuine financial need to better afford the escalating cost of Catholic school tuition. This scholarship is awarded to a deserving family in St. Gabriel School kindergarten and renewed each year until the child graduates eighth grade.

Rachel Kayza Scholarship

The parents of Rachel Kayza created this scholarship in 2010 in their daughter's name, Rachel Kayza. This scholarship was created to assist families of children with learning or physical disabilites, as well as families with genuine financial need. Qualified candidates are presently in grades one through seven, enrolled at St. Gabriel Day School.
